Parents Committee

Section Links

The Parents Committee exists to support the Scout Group.

One of it's main functions is to provide the section leaders with the facilities and resources they need to offer Scouting to our members (the young people), by such things as fund raising and grant applications etc.

Therefore each year we ask for parents / ex-members / friends of the group to serve on the executive committee which usually meet once a term.

If you feel you are able to help us or are interested in serving on the committee, please contact [email protected] for more information.

Hut Renovations

We own our hut which is on land leased from Plymouth City Council.

Currently the hut is in desperate need of major renovations.

The committee's ambition is to carry out renovations over the next 12 months or so.

But in order to do this we need help.

Jobs that need doing:-

  1. Replacement / Repairs to the parameter fence to protect our property.
  2. Treat the exterior of the building to protect us from the elements.
  3. Repair and protect all windows and doors.
  4. Service / Replace Gas Heater.
  5. Strip interior walls of hardboard.
  6. Plasterboard interior walls (fire reg. protected).
  7. Insulate interior walls & roof.
  8. Decorate interior throughout.

The above list is not complete, it only represents the main items.

If you are able to help the group by donating materials or labour for any of the work above please contact [email protected] .

The long term ambition of the group is to completely rebuild the hut with a stone or prefab concrete structure but this is a few years down the line and will depend on planning permission etc.

Easter Fun Day

Sunday 8th April 2001

This Fun Day was organised at very short notice with the aim of being a day of fun and games rather than stalls with goods on.

Some of the games on offer were - Hoopla Frog, Goalie Ball, Dart Pontoon, Dart the Heart, Play your Cards Right, Face Painting, Hunt the Easter Egg and Raffles to name but a few.

The event went well with good support on what turned out to develop into a wet drizzle afternoon.

In total we raised about £175.00 profit for Group funds. Many thanks to all who supported us.

But particular thanks must go to Kerrie, Kit and Kath who organised this event.

Below are some photos of the activities:-
